Erie St. Clair changes the way patients experience care
The Erie St. Clair Regional Cancer Program (ESCRCP) took a major step in achieving its goal to improve the patient experience by implementing the Oncology Interactive Navigator (OIN). By adopting the OIN as part of their patient education framework, the region will change the way patients and their families experience cancer care.
The OIN is now providing breast, prostate, lung, colorectal and melanoma patients at Windsor Regional Hospital with 24/7 access to quality cancer information and an array of local, provincial and national support resources.
This positive change will more widespread in the upcoming months, as the OIN is implemented across the rest of the region.
Through their Regional Cancer Plan 2011-2015, professionals of the ESC area emphasized the importance of listening to the needs of patients and their families, and making it easier for everyone to be involved in healthcare.
The educational and interactive nature of the OIN is a major step in this direction, and Jack Digital Productions is proud to play a part. Using the OIN helps patients be more informed and take a more active role in their care.
The progress doesn’t stop here though. The ESC Regional Cancer Plan highlights the importance of receiving feedback from patients and their families to identify opportunities for improvement, and the OIN will play a key role here as well.
With user comments and tracking, JDP will continuously work with patients and healthcare professional to provide people with healthcare that is truly person-centred.
“At JDP, we’ve been dedicated to the person-centred approach for years. It has been really rewarding to work with health professionals and see a real shift happen in the system,” said Murray Rochon, president of JDP. “It’s exciting to contribute to such positive change, and we look forward to continuing these important contributions.”
